On this day, 9/5/1981 Rev. Hagy officiated our wedding at Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls, NY. Rev. Hagy did not know either my bride Heidi or myself (Bill). Rev. Hagy met with us a few times before the wedding day and during this time we became very fond of this very caring human. His sense of humor made us very at ease and we felt welcome even though we were not members of this community at the time. Art helped us to realize just how much our love meant to one another. He was honest that we may have struggles throughtout our future and that we should remember why we married. After thirty-five years I thank Art for his words and his acceptance of us in to the church family. I also admired Art for his steadfast love of mission, especially his numerous trips to Maine. RIP Rev. Hagy. Prayers to all his family and friends. Peace...

I was privileged and deeply blessed to work with Art during my first full-time appointment after seminary. He was as good a mentor as they come. He gave me virtually free rein and lots of room to be the pastor I was discovering I would be (with lots of room, too, to explore my growing edges and learn from my mistakes), and he did it in a way that could be done only by someone with a large and generous heart and with a solid grounding in his humanity and his vocation. The gift of Art's llife is one worth celebrating.

Our condolence to all the family. We remember you as children in Granville NY. We have wonderful memories from Rev. Hagy and family serving our church and community. Rev Hagy married us and it was the last service he performed in Granville before being transferred to breach in his new church the next day. Also our children spent many summers at Sky Farm which was dear to Art's heart. Our prayers are with you and we will all long remember the wonderful Rev. Art Hagy. We will send a donation to Heifer International. Our Best to you all Ron and Linda

In celebration of my brother Art Hagy Art's spirituality was thoroughly grounded in Jesus. Grounded in Jesus, Art's spirituality followed Jesus' pattern of continually searching, questioning, receiving, maturing in deepest gratitude and thankfulness. Grounded in Jesus, and continually maturing, Art's spirituality increased breadth, width, depth and height. Grounded in Jesus, continually maturing and increasing in dimension, Art's spirituality blossomed in a passion for releasing the Sacred within people, relationships, interrelationships and establishing and renewing relationships. Grounded in Jesus, continually maturing, increasing in dimension and focused on relationships, Art's expression of Jesus' love painted with the rainbow colors of compassion, fairness, affirmation, generosity, hospitality, acceptance uplifting encouragement … the ingredients of forgiving, restoring, caring grace. Grounded in Jesus, continually maturing, increasing in dimension and focused on relationships of expressed love, Art's spirituality and life overflowed with contagious confidence, humbleness, at-homeness with himself and comfort with people which made him a master mentor and friend to people of all ages wherever he found them. And in all of this Art's spirituality lived openly before us with a deep, salubrious expression of caring joy … which has made us all the better people as family, friends, siblings in faith and love and which will guide us to offer the best gift that we can to all of creation, even as he has so splendidly done. Thank you, my brother Art. Bob Long

Sue & all family, I hold many fond memories of your dad. Many are related to the canoe camp at Skye Farm, which I did in each of my years in high school. He made those fun, and we didn't even realize all that we were learning. Later I can see how these experiences shaped my growing up, as we learned about faith and friendship and teamwork and perseverance. I also remember how he did my dad's funeral when I was a kid. He took our whole extended family outside, and in what was surely a supernatural feat of pastoral leadership, gently coaxed deeply personal memories from even some people I've never heard speak in public before. I am grateful and blessed to have known him.

Art held an office at Emmaus UMC (then Cavalry UMC) during his years as District Superintendent. The congregation called upon him as an advisor to the church often in those years and thereafter, and he was a mentor providing pastoral services to many. (Moreover, we believe he was a pastor at Cavalry UMC in some years before our membership there.) Our heartfelt condolences to the family in full confidence is the Lord Jesus Christ.

My prayers are with your family at the loss of such a wonderful person as Art was. His was a life well-lived, touching the lives of so may people. It's why we are TAUM named an award for him, the Rev. Dr. Arthur F. Hagy, Jr. Spirit of Generosity Award. He was generous with his wisdom, his caring, his gifts. I am better for having known him, and I know so many people who can say that. Now Art sees Christ face to face. His memory is a blessing. God bless you all.
