Obituary of Victor Mion JR

Saratoga Springs - Victor V. Mion Jr., 74 of Saratoga Springs, formerly of Niskayuna, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009, with his family by his side, from complication of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was born in Schenectady on October 24, 1934, son of the late Victor V. and Viola Anselm Mion Sr.. Victor was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Columbia University School of Engineering in 1956. He was President and owner of Anthony Mion & Son in Schenectady for the past 50 years. Victor was a member and instructor with Lake George Power Squadron; past president of Local Sigma Chi Chapter; past president of Niskayuna Kiwanis; CO-President of Niskayuna High School PTA; Assistant Boy Scout Leader Troop 31; past president Eastern New York Contractors Association; past Board member Lake George Opera; Volunteer with SICM for abused children; past Board member for Habitat for Humanity; Trustee of Local 2 and an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Schenectady. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Sweeney Mion; three sons, Farren and his wife Kathleen of Charlton, Patrick and his wife Karen of Glenville, Lance and his wife Kathleen of Silver Springs, MD; six grandchildren; one sister, Gail Atkins of Phoenix, AZ and one nephew. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Rd., Schenectady. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Jones Funeral home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady for those who wish to call. Entombment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Victor's memory to St. Peter's ALS Regional Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, NY 12205 or to Peter G.
