I didnt know Ed well. But in my discussions with him as a distrubuter for Freihofer baking co. He always impressed me as a very caring and friendly man.I am very sorry about his sudden passing. He was a true Irishman.

I met Ed back in 1998 when I started my job as a cashier at Price Chopper in Binghamton. He was always nice and pleasant to me, when I wasn't doing well as a cashier instead of letting me go he put in the deli my youngest was only 6 months at the time and I needed my job. That's the kind of man he was. I worked for price chopper for 15 years I quit and I now work for Freihoffer and even then every time I saw him he has always said hello to me by name. I will miss him as I am sure we all will. My condolences to his family. He was a great man

I could tell so many stories about Ed during the 24 years he was married to my sister, Barb. I got to know him well and enjoyed many a holiday at thier home in Apalachin or at a McEvoy or McManus gathering. I fondly recall the many times Ed tried to kill me jet skiing or tubing on Friends Lake, piloting the family boat at unmentionable speeds. Above all, Ed and my sister raised two wonderful sons, Chris and Greg who will forever carry on his legacy. Ed had many friends from Price Chopper and from golfing. He will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched as a kindhearted friend. I am sad that his time on this earth was cut short, but comforted in knowing that he lived it well. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and many friends. Godspeed to you, my brother...

I remember meeting Ed back in his early Pa. days.
He was a nice and friendly guy. I remember meeting him at Luzerne St. , when it first opened.

I knew Ed through Price Chopper he would come to our store in Taylor walk around smile greet you say hello but one day at the Mark McAfee golf tournament I confronted him and asked him if he knew me I told him I was from the taylor store so anyway long story short every time he came to our store I would cover my name badge and say whats my name he did remember it and we joked about it at the tournament this year. I had relocated to Syracuse, from Long Island, in 2007 and was hired by Price Chopper. Ed was my zone director. I met him my first day on the job. There was a store manager meeting that day. Ed paired me up with a store manager who had an outgoing personality. Ed wanted that store manager to make me feel at home and he counted on him to introduce me to my co-workers and help me get used to my new company. It was clear that first day that Ed was someone who truly cared about his people and after 8 years of working for/with Ed, I know this to be so true. Through the years I learned so much about leadership from Ed. I was fortunate to have worked for him as a store manager, specialist and now zone director. Every step of the way Ed was there for me. Although he was my boss, he was my friend and almost like a big brother to me. I always had questions for him and he always gave me great advise. When things got tough, he always had a way to make me see the bright side - and he was always right. Even when I did not report directly to him, Ed always sent flowers to my home for Christmas - he was just that way. I will miss our daily chats, in fact I already do. You were one of a kind, and I am fortunate to have known you Ed. I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me through the years. In my heart always.

My condolences to Greg and Chris. A while ago I visited some stores with Ed, during our road time all we talked about was our families, mostly our kids. He is proud of his sons, we listened to Chris on the radio and he was beaming with happiness. He always provided sound advice, guidance and in my eyes he made Region 3 like a big family. I know many that will miss him, his teachings, guidance and sayings will live on through many of us, with that I use one of those sayings "I gotta tell ya, my heartaches"
