To Flit and all of your family, my deepest sympathies on losing Pete. He sounds like a fascinating man with a wide world of interests. His description brought back memories of my brother who was a geophysicist and who played the guitar in a band and was interested in everything. It is tough to see such fine and interesting people end their earthly journeys. Please accept our condolences.

Whether it was writing the erudite liner notes for a friend's album (the Adirondack traditional singer Lawrence Older, recorded by Folk-Legacy Records in 1964), making a place in his and Flit's garage for a stringband to play because the six week class that had bonded the players just wasn't long enough (and those sessions went on for years), or heaven knows how many other things I don't know about, Pete loved folk music and quietly made it happen. I'll remember him in the tunes we played for as long as I can play them or hear them. They - and we who play them - will be better for it.

Our deepest condolences to you and your family, Flit. Although we only met Peter once, looking at the photographs from 1967 confirm that he was just the kind of person we would have made music with, figuratively and literally, had our paths crossed earlier in life. Know that we are thinking of you, that we mourn with you and that we mourn for you.

We always enjoyed Uncle Pete's music and his dry sense of humor. He will be missed but not forgotten.

My memories of Pete go back to our youth when we shared our struggles trying to master getting our BS degrees in Nuclear and Chemical Engineering at NC State. It was my pleasure to room with Pete, to listen to him practice his clarinet, to smoke our pipes, and to talk about our dreams for the future. Thanks for the memories and I wish him God speed for his next assignment.

I love you, Uncle Pete. I have so many wonderful memories of summer trips to your home: the loads of food, outdoor games, the "Initial Game" and listening to the adults sing and play music. I will miss you so very much.
