Obituary of Jerusha M. Hubert

Esperance: Jerusha Morgan Strong Hubert, wife of the Reverend Lawrence Hubert died in her sleep at home after a short illness. Born in Schenectady July 28 1939 she lived in Niskayuna graduating from Nott Terrace High School in 1957. Jerusha attended Russell Sage College & Schenectady County Community College, receiving her Bachelors and Masters degrees from SUNY Albany.
Jerusha worked at Christ Church Day Care Center and then for Child Protective services of New York State before retiring in 2004. She cared deeply for children and brought joy and laughter to the young at heart in her family, her community and her large extended family.
An active member of Christ Church Episcopal since 1969, a member of the Commission on Ministry for the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, she enjoyed singing and acting co-authoring several plays and musicals. While at Christ Church she was a choir member and volunteered for Alpha Pregnancy Care. She recently completed her first novel "The Farm".
Jerusha was predeceased by a sister Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Strong Brandhorst of Westfield, NY and son James - Hubert of Schenectady.
Besides her husband she is survived by her sister Martha Strong Perry of Groton Connecticut, her children Martha Hasslacher of Greenwich, NY, Erich Morgan Kaminsky of Schenectady, John Andrew Kaminsky of Northboro, MA, three step-sons; Thomas Hubert of Rochester NY, Timothy Hubert of Niskayuna, Steven Hubert of Schenectady, many cousins, nieces, nephews and thirteen grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 pm Sunday July 31 at Jones Funeral Home 1503 Union St. (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. The funeral service will be Monday August 1, at 10 am at Christ Church Episcopal 970 State St Schenectady. In lieu of flowers donation may be made her memory to Christ Church or Alpha Pregnancy Care.
