Obituary of Emita R. Cerchione

Schenectady- Emita Rodriguez Cerchione passed away on August 16, 2011. She lived at Kingsway Village since April 2010 and previously resided in Florida, Texas, New York and New Jersey.
Emy was born on March 21, 1928 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, the only child of Luis Sosa Rodriguez and Emma Mezquita Rodriguez. She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from James Monroe High School. She was employed for 35 years by Ferrocariles Nacionales de Mexico, rising from secretary to director of that office.
Emita enjoyed shopping, movies, dinning out and dancing. She travelled extensively during her lifetime, including many points in the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Russia , Norway, England, France and Cuba. Emy enjoyed fashion and jewelry and was always color coordinated and accessorized. Poker at Kinsgway was a great source of amusement and she also enjoyed the trip to Lake George.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Rodriguez (Robert Colborn) of Niskayuna, New York and Robert Ryan (Christel Bettencourt) of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, five grandsons, Samuel and Alexander Colborn and Nolan, Derek and Hugh Sigmund Ryan. She is also survived by her "Prima hermana " Elsie Cisneros and family. Predeceased by her parents and her husbands, Raymond Ryan and Raymond Cerchione.
Emy's family would like to thank the staff and residents of Kingsway Village for their help and friendship.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Schenectady, on Friday, September 2nd at 11 AM. A luncheon following the mass will be held at 905 Vrooman Avenue, Niskayuna.
