I, too, grew up next door to Miss Godfrey and she was a very independent, outspoken, strong, and direct woman. I admired her for not conforming to suburban stereotypes, for being interested in everything and everyone, and her courage. Her gardener, Ralph, was a loyal friend. Our dog loved Ralph and he always spent time cuddling with her. Miss Godfrey was an original, and I liked her very much.

My Dearest Dorothea (Daisy) Words cannot express the love I have had for you in these short 15 years you have been in my life. You taught me that no one is better than another, regardless of financial status or societal status, but that everyone that God put on this earth has value. I will never forget our lunches every Friday, sometimes Thursdays, or our special "it's summer, time to travel to Lake George to the Algonquin" lunches, as well as, "it's Christmas, time to go to the Red Lobster" lunches. You were such an encouragement to me when I decided to open my own company, Bird Realty, helping me with my mailings and always saying, "you can do it kid!", although you also said you shot yourself in the foot because it meant "some of us have to work" and less time to fly around together, shopping or just having fun. Tom always loved being in your presence. He said you reminded him of his grandmother Bird whom he loved. You always said you had a very "colorful" life. That you did, my dear sweet Dorothea. I will never forget all the wonderful stories of life you shared with me. You had such a way with words. I always felt as if I was right there in the story, picturing all you did with your Dad and family or your dear friend Marion. We are truly blessed to have known you for this time and pray that we can have the opportunity to bless others in life as you have for over 88 years. Much love, Donna and Tom

Miss Godfrey: I grew up knowing you. I will miss you being next door to my parents. I'll never forget the "hot" cars or the rides in them. Including the Trans Am. Good bye for now. Olivia
