Obituary of William H. Ruth

William H. Ruth 92, died peacefully Monday, March 13, 2017 at Ellis hospital following a brief illness. He was born on April 17, 1924 in Ticonderoga, NY. Bill was the eldest of 12 children born to the late Henry and Carolyn Ruth. He graduated from Mineville High School and enlisted in the Navy where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. Bill later graduated from New York State Tech College in Canton, NY and started his career as a designer draftsman at GE for 30 years. During that time he was credited with 3 pattens for generators he designed. He was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie (Sprague) Ruth after 55 years of marriage, his daughter Kathy Brougham and son in-law Robert Brougham, several sisters and brothers. Bill is survived by his second wife, Evelyn (Amedore) Ruth; daughters Kristine (Robert) Barbuti, Kandace (Larry) Hammersmith, Kimberly (Thomas) Carroll, step-daughters Laurie (James) Barone, Grace (Thomas) Girard, Hollie (Henry) Lohn, two sisters and one brother. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren , 12 great grandchildren and next month one more. Also 6 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, golf, fishing, bowling, trap shooting, playing cards, sports, spending winters in Florida and most of all spending time with all the family. Bill was along time member of Schenectady Lodge #1174 F. & A.M. and the Rotterdam Elks. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday March 17th at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady from 4 PM to 7 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday morning at 10 AM at the funeral home with burial at Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam, NY.
