Obituary of William G. MacMillan

William "Mac" MacMillan, 71 years old, passed suddenly on October 25, 2013 at SunnyviewRehabilitation Center in Schenectady, NY.
Mac was born September 8, 1942 in Watertown, NY, son of Olin J. and Christine Norris MacMillan.
Mac is retired from Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY where he was employed for 25 years as emergency room personnel. Mac was a member/elected official of South Schenectady Fire Department for 33 years. He was a life member of the VFW #1895 and a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157. Mac is also a veteran of the United States Navy who proudly served for 25 years; also, he fought for his country in Vietnam.
Mac's most enjoyed hobbies were spending time with his family, watching his beloved New York Giants, and South Schenectady Fire Department. Mac was an avid member of congregation in St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Fairview Avenue in Schenectady, NY. Above all else, Mac held his grandkids very close to his heart and enjoyed spending his days with each of them, he was very proud of each of their accomplishments and goals.
Mac married Cathy L. "Hill" MacMillan in 1966; he is survived by his wife who resides in Rotterdam, NY. Mac is also survived by his three children and their spouses: John & Cija MacMillan, Joann & Kevin Ennis, Patricia & John Sandy. He has six grandchildren: Shawn M. MacMillan, Tyler R. Bennett, Christopher W. MacMillan, Erin A. MacMillan, Danielle M. Sandy (predeceased), Jurnee M. MacMillan as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mac is survived by his sister Delores Tedford; Predeceased by siblings Norma Dickey, Marilyn Arnold, Natalie Hamblin, Marlene Hill, John MacMillan, and Jack "Olin" MacMillan.
Calling hours will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street (at McClellan St.), Schenectady between 3pm - 8pm on Tuesday October 29, 2013.
Church services will be held on Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Fairview Avenue in Schenectady, NY at 11am followed by the procession to Memorial Gardens on 983 Watervliet-Shaker Road in Colonie, NY. Following services at the cemetery, everyone is welcome to give condolences to family and friends at a small get together at the South Schenectady Fire Department.
