Schenectady, NY Judith McTerney Winchester, 95, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2022 in her apartment at Sunnybrook Senior Living in Brunswick, Maine. She was born in Schenectady, New York in 1926, daughter of P.A. (Mac) and Adele McTerney. She was predeceased by her husband Robert L. Winchester in 2019. She is survived by her daughters Ellen, Caroline, and Lucy, and her grandchildren, Emilia and Daniel. Her two sisters, Elizabeth Woods and Joan Hickmott, predeceased her. She is also survived by her cousin, Helen Slayton Hughes, as well as her nieces and nephews. Judith attended Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Occupational Therapy and worked as an Occupational Therapist at Sunnyview Hospital in Schenectady. Active in the community, Judith served as president and director of Volunteers for the Psychiatric Services at Ellis Hospital and as president and member of the Board of Visitors at the Capital District Psychiatric Center. She was president and board member of the Environmental Clearinghouse. As an artist, she was active in the Niskayuna Brush and Palette group. Judith created many works in watercolor and oil inspired by the Adirondack North Country, where she and her husband had a camp. She was an avid downhill and crosscountry skier. She and her husband enjoyed a good game of tennis. They took many canoe trips exploring waterways in the Adirondack Mountains. Judith also enjoyed gardening and she read constantly, and enjoyed belonging for many years to the Ex Libris book group in Niskayuna.
