Obituary of Richard J. Huether

Niskayuna- Richard J. "Dick" Huether, 87, of Niskayuna passed away suddenly on Wednesday September 1, 2021 after a long and distinguished life.
Richard was born in Albany, the only son of the late John J. and Alice Gillan Huether. He was a 1951 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and in 1955 he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He served in the US Army as a Commissioned Officer.
Richard went on to work at the General Electric Company for 30 years and retired in 1989 in the position of Corporate Marketing Executive. He was very in involved with many organizations in the capital district: The College of Saint Rose, CBA, LaSalle Institute, Proctors Theater, Ellis Hospital, Catholic Dioceses of Albany to name a few. Richard was also a Lector and Advisor at the University of Notre Dame. He was a life member of the Mohawk Golf Club and enjoyed walking in nature.
He was predeceased by his parent; his first cousins, Carolyn Yandell and John Goodrich. Richard is survived by his second cousins, Cindy Sagendorph, Cathy McCutcheon, Carol Hendrickson, Chrissy Suozzi, Susanne Moeller, Barbara Goodrich-Welk and their families. Also left behind are close friends including Bud Lupi, Roger Fox and Dennis Englert, colleagues, wonderful neighbors and past students whom he mentored.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the many caregivers who helped enable Richard to remain in his beloved home these last 5 years - Maryellen, Linda, Katherine, Melissa, Rhonda, Theresa, Annie and many more. A special thank you to Dennis and his assistant Amy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM on Tuesday September 7, 2021 at St. Kateri Parish, 1803 Union St., Niskayuna, NY. Burial will be private at a later date at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY. Arrangements are by the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., Schenectady.
