My friends and I, part of Saratoga Central Catholic Class of '81, were deeply saddened to learn of "Mr. B's" passing. We certainly weren't math geeks, and computer science class existed only because Mr. B brought in his own Apple II to teach us (how to play Pong). Yet he took such a sincere interest in our learning, we managed to enjoy those classes. We wish his family and friends comfort that he was respected and well-liked by so many of his students.

Mr. Baciewicz was not only one of mine and my sister's favorite math teachers at Niskayuna high school but he was also my very first Computer Science teacher. He took a topic that can be overwhelming at first and made it understandable - even fun! I have my PhD in computer science, and I owe that in part to Mr. Baciewicz planting those first seeds. My heart goes out to the friends and family he leaves behind.

I'm deeply saddened by the loss of a wonderful teacher like Mr. B. As a 14-year-old back in the 80s, I took his Computer Science class at Nisky. Not only did he do a great job of educating us, he did a fantastic job of making the class fun. I was smitten with software and never looked back. I got a degree in Computer Science and I still write software today. Mr. B was one of a handful of teachers who took a genuine interest in me as a student and a person. I will never forget him for that. Rest in peace Big Joe.

Joe was truly a wonderful human being. He was a gifted teacher, excellent gardener, competent carpenter and craftsman. His friendship was treasured. Joe was always generous with his kindness and expertise. The help he gave us over the years will never be forgotten.

Joe’s genius with computers was only surpassed by his generosity and willingness to help others. One of the things Marcia and I miss since moving is being able to stop by Joe’s house and catch up on his projects. We usually got to take home something from his garden.

I am honored to say I was a colleague of Joe's for many years at Niskayuna.
He was a gifted teacher, after all, how many would take the time to teach computer
programming to a fellow teacher during his spare time.
Rest in peace good man.

Hey Joe, what gives? We were supposed to get together and here you go leaving before we could talk over old times. You will sorely be missed big guy, but I know you are back to your old self in a good place. Good bye, buddy
