Rosalind “Betty” Oudai 79, of Schenectady passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 27, 2018. Rosalind was born on March 13, 1939 in Trinidad. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Ruth Oudai.
She immigrated to the United States in 1967 and lived in the Bronx until the death of her long time love and companion of 40+ years, Bharath Mykoo in 2007. She then moved to Schenectady to be closer to her son and his family.
Rosalind was the mother to Emerson Mykoo and grandmother to Saphirah and Alannah Mykoo. She was the step-mother to Madonna Gamble (Mykoo), Amanda Cromie (Mykoo), Sgt. Maj. Scott Mykoo (USMC retired), Chris Mykoo and Yuri Mykoo. She is also survived by her cousins, Whida Rahaman and her family.
Rosalind worked at Dunn & Brad Street as an Administrative Assistant for 15 years and then she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at Laconia Nursing Home for 10 years. Rosalind had an excellent work ethic and even when she retired, she always loved to keep herself busy, always willing to help out whenever asked.
She enjoyed domestic and international travel. She visited many States throughout the United States including Hawaii and Washington State. Her trips included foreign countries including Mexico and England. She was amazingly organized and knew how to live humbly and showed great prudency. She cherished spending time with her family and left them with many fond memories.
There is no doubt among the people who knew her, that Rosalind was proud of the life she created in this country with her family.
A person like her will not easily be forgotten.
