Obituary of Rachael VanCoevering

Rachael Mae VanCoevering went home to the Lord on December 18, 2017.
Rachael was born June 18, 1924 in Ludlow, Vermont to John Arthur and Sophie Frost Delano Giddings. She married John VanCoevering on August 9, 1947 in Ludlow, Vermont; John and Rachael were happily married for 61 years until his death in 2008.
Rachael graduated from the University of Vermont in 1946 with a teaching degree. She worked as a teacher until her marriage; from then on she worked mostly as a homemaker and a dedicated wife and mother to her family. When they were first married, Rachael and John settled in Schenectady. They moved to Edmore, Michigan in 1952, and returned to Schenectady in 1969. Rachael has lived in Schenectady and Clifton Park since that time. She and her husband were members of First Presbyterian Church for many years, including the time they lived in Michigan. Rachael was significantly involved in the Women's Ministry at First Presbyterian for many years, and she also sang in the Senior Choir at the church. She did everything she could for her children, grandchildren and great-Grandchildren.
In addition to her husband John, Rachael is predeceased by her son, John B. VanCoevering, her granddaughter Alisha VanCoevering, as well as her 3 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Tierman; two children, Jim (Luz) VanCoevering and Karen (Tim) Klint; her daughter-in-law Deborah VanCoevering; along with 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Rachael enjoyed a full and complete life. Now she can enjoy the company of her friends and family in Glory with her Lord!
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 5-7:00pm at the Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 1503 Union Street, Schenectady. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 3 at 11:00am at the funeral home.
