Cynthia "Cindi" Lynn Branch Ostrander, Simpsonville, SC
Cindi Ostrander, 58, formerly of Niskayuna, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on September 25th, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family. Cindi was born in Niskayuna on March 8, 1956 to the late Sandra Gridley DeCoste and Tommy Ray Branch. Cindi was a 1975 graduate of St. Agnes School in Loudonville. She found the love of her life, John, in 1976, and after a long night of shuffleboard they knew it would last forever. John and Cindi were married August 28th, 1976. Throughout their relationship, whenever they would hear their wedding song ("If" by Bread) they would stop what they were doing and dance. The couple loved to spend weekends on their boat in Lake Hartwell, watch Mets games, and travel to their home away from home in St. Maarten. Cindi loved dragonflies, lighthouses, and the ocean. As a child she would spend her summers with her beloved grandparents, Mema and Mankie, in Gloucester, MA. Lately, she found comfort painting with her friends or spending time with her dog Carter and her cats Sage and Noël. Cindi's greatest pride was being a Mema to her four grandchildren. She loved to listen to Nathan's jokes, watch Abby dance in the ballet, swim in the lake with Avah, and brag about her newest redheaded grandson Jack. Cindi is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, John E. Ostrander III; her children, Jaime (John) Wright of Glens Falls, Janna (Jon) Bedell of Fountain Inn, SC, John (Celeste Young) Ostrander IV of Niskayuna; her brother Scott Cadan of Albany, and her sister Melissa (Patrick) Dempsey of MA; her four grandchildren, Nathan and Abigail Wright, Avah Bedell, and John "Jack" Ostrander V. Cindi was predeceased by her parents and her grandparents Dorothy Green Gridley and Frank C Gridley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday November 8th from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady, NY.
