Obituary of Ronald J. Schlitt

Deacon Ronald Joseph Schlitt, 84, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Ron was the son of the late Chauncey and Elizabeth (Nobel) Schlitt. After serving in Japan for the Air Force in the Korean War, Ron attended Seton Hall University, and began his lifelong career as a software developer in New York, Ireland, and Houston. Ron was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a kind, compassionate friend who spent every day in the service of his family, friends, and God. Ron fulfilled his calling by serving as Deacon at St. Christopher's Church in Buchanan, NY and at St Kateri Tekakwitha in Niskayuna, NY over the past 25 years. Ron is survived by the love of his life, Mary (Hickey), his children, Carol (Mark Cronin), Trish (Jesse) James, Maggie (Steve) Schutzman, and Ron (Sue) Schlitt. His grandchildren Patrick, Jamie, John Cronin; Meghan (Neil) and Emmett Litten; Max and Deirdre Schutzman; Miranda, Eric, and Tom Schlitt; Trisha James. His great granddaughters Isabella and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Bud Noble; and his brother and sister in-laws, Pat and Eileen Hickey, John and Pauline Hickey. Calling hours will be Friday, January 13 from 3:30-6:30 pm at St Kateri Tekakwitha, 1801 Union Street, Niskayuna. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14 at 11 am at St Kateri Tekakwitha, Union Street, Niskayuna; immediately followed by interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Community Hospice, St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany NY 12208.
