Schenectady - George B. Schmid died suddenly at home around 7 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was a wounderful husband, father and grandfather and served in the Army National Reserves in 1974.
George's survivors include his wife, Coleen Schmid; daughter, Katie Rivenburgh and husband John Rivenburgh, their children, Michael Britten age 16, Sarah Britten age 15, Faith Britten age 14, Joshua Britten age 12, Breanna Britten age 7, and Nicholas Britten age 6; daughter Debbie Britten and her husband Harold Britten, their children, Ericka Brown age 14, Tyler Britten age 9, Kaylee Britten age 8; and one son , George B. Schmid Jr. and his wife Stacey, their children George Schmid, Mathew Schmid, Emily Schmid, Zachary Schmid, Brandon, Trish and Justin. Other survivors include Leisha Mulcahy; in-laws Lawrence and Virginia Woodard; sisters, Nancy, Brenda and Bonnie; and brother Gene; also several nieces and nephews.
We want everyone to know that George was a born again Christian and lived his life for the Lord. Whoever shall read this, shall come to Christ and repent of their sins and make Jesus Lord of their life so that someday you will be able to spend eternity with him and our Lord Jesus. George also devoted his life and sacrificed for his family. His family meant the world to him as he did to his family. He is greatly loved and missed.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at Noon at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union, St. with Pastor James Bookhout officiating. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 11 AM to Noon. Burial to follow in Historic Vale Cemetery.
