Obituary of Donald Larocque SR

Niskayuna- Donald D. LaRocque Sr, 85, formerly of Story Avenue, Niskayuna, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Kingsway Nursing Center. Don was born in Burlington, VT and was a life long area resident. Son of the late Harold and Estelle Roberts LaRocque. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and Siena College with a degree in Physics. Don served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific. He was the manager of the Radioactive Materials Laboratory at Knolls Atomic Power Lab until retiring in 1987. Don was an active member of the American Nuclear Society and held positions on many executive committees. He was a parishioner of St. Helen's Church, past president of the Gulf Stream RV Club and the Air Stream Club. Don was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Stacie Davis LaRocque, Father to Stacey L. DiLauro , husband John, of Liverpool, NY, Donald D. LaRocque, Jr, wife Karen, of Niskayuna, Linda A. Wolf, husband Gary, of Margate, FL and David M. LaRocque of Framingham, MA; Grandfather to Lauren E. Briere, husband Ean, of Bolton Valley, VT, Justin D. LaRocque of Niskayuna and Maximilian LaRocque of Framingham, MA; Brother to Lorraine Elmore of Phoenix AZ and the late Joyce Dearstyne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Monday morning at 9 AM at St. Helen's Church, Niskayuna. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St.,(at McClellan St.), Schenectady, for those who wish to call. Entombment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
