Clifton Park - Cinda "Cindy" L. Gross of Clifton Park, 55, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on June 22nd surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 5 year battle with colon cancer.
Born on January 7, 1954 in Schenectady, Cindy was the daughter of the late Leland and Marlene Hill. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, she worked more than 30 years at her mother's restaurant, Luigi's on Barrett St. in Schenectady. She loved all of her family and extended family, who all loved her very much. She also enjoyed her many years at Luigi's Restaurant, which was like a second home and many of the customers became almost like family.
Her beloved daughters described their mother as devoted to family, demonstrating unselfishness, always nurturing, entirely loving, often stubborn, definitely strong willed, and extremely courageous. Cindy always took every opportunity to care for or to be with her grandchildren, to laugh and play with them, but also to help teach them right from wrong. Her siblings say she was the "good one", always pleasing others, and the ultimate peacemaker. Customers at Luigi's would request to be seated at Cindy's tables.
Cindy always delighted her steady customers by having their drinks on the table as they were sitting and placed their orders with them by just confirming "The usual please." No matter how busy the restaurant was she would always take the time to visit with customers and make sure they had everything they needed.
Cindy enjoyed life but was otherwise directed, it wasn't about her, it was about everyone else. She was into customer service as it should be and treated everyone like a friend and part of her family. She touched so many lives in a positive and caring way. She leaves as a legacy many wonderful and loving memories. She is now in a far, far better place and her deserving tribute will be that she will be missed but never forgotten. Cindy was and always will be a very special person.
Cindy is survived by her three daughters, Gail M. (Joe) Macejka, Melissa A. (Mike) Villeaume and Amanda L. (Dan Weeks) Gross, and 5 grandchildren, Madyson Macejka, Matthew Macejka, Katyln Villeaume, Michael Villeaume and Heavenly Rose Weeks.
She is survived by her fianc?e and companion of 21 years, Bob "Mitch" Michelson, and also her best friend, and father of her children, David R. Gross.
Surviving siblings include Gary (Vi) Metz, Leland "Butch" Hill Jr., Willis "Jay" (Terri) Hill, Sandy (Joe) Bianchine, Cathy (Bill) MacMillan, Linda Hill, Carol (Don) Clough and Nancy (Armando) Paniccia. Her other surviving family members are her Uncle Bill MacMillan and Aunt Delores of Tennessee, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson Brandon R. Gross and her brother Larry Metz.
The family sincerely thanks the caring and professional staff of A6 at Ellis Hospital and Rexford Oncology.
