Obituary of Arlene Naylor
Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schenectady-Arlene Chamberlain Naylor, 77, of Schenectady, went home to her Lord and Savior after falling at her residence on Saturday, November 14.
Arlene was born on August 14, 1932 in Chesham, New Hampshire to the late Ernest and Florence Clarke Chamberlain. She married Robert Young Naylor, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts on May 1, 1952; the couple and their three children moved to Schenectady in 1966. She was employed by and retired from General Electric's insurance department.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Robert, and her children: Steven Naylor, of Schenectady; Rebecca Naylor Tuckey and Rebecca's husband, Timothy Tuckey , presently of Vicenza, Italy; and her son-in-law, Gregg Kaufmann of Pattersonville. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Kristen Kaufmann Long and her husband, Stanley Long, of Lima, Ohio; Ryan Kaufmann of Scotia; and Benjamin Kaufmann stationed at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. She had two great-grandchildren, Savannah Long and Jacob Long. Arlene has been reunited in heaven with her eldest daughter, Deborah Naylor Kaufmann.
"Muti," as she was known to her family, was loving, positive, and thoughtful. She selflessly served many in the community and at her church, the First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady where she was a member for 43 years. In that time, she served as a Deaconess, sang in the choir, and participated in multiple children's and youth ministries. For decades, she has raised countless funds for and volunteered with Youth for Christ. She was also a routine volunteer at the City Mission and Christ Church Breakfast Club of Schenectady.
Arlene lived life to the fullest. She was an avid walker, committed to lifelong fitness and enjoyed skiing, ice-skating, roller-skating and bowling. Her hobbies included baking, knitting, and reading. Always looking for ways to make others laugh and smile, she was known for her practical jokes and great sense of humor. Her happiest moments, however, were when she was surrounded by her family. Arlene was a constant source of love, joy, strength, and inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
Her family invites those who knew Arlene to join them as they celebrate her life at the funeral on Saturday, November 21, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church at 209 Union Street in Schenectady. The Reverends Ken McHeard and Larry Roff will officiate the service. Calling hours will be at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street, from 7 PM to 9 PM on Friday, November 20.
Burial will follow the funeral in the Woestina Reformed Church Cemetery, 1397 Main Street, on Route 5S, in Rotterdam Junction.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arlene's name may be made to Youth for Christ, 293 Troy-Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110.
