Obituary of Russell Hughes SR

Schenectady- Russell James Hughes Sr. 61, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Albany, NY, son of the late Joseph W.Hughes Sr. and Thelma Vern Edmunds Hughes. Russell was a Marine Veteran. He worked at Super Walmart in Glenville for 7 years in the Meat Department. Russell enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survived by his wife, Darlene D'Ambrosi Hughes; daughter, Erin Lowery (Paul Sr.) of Schenectady, son, Russell Jr. of Niskayuna; his sister, Judy Koch (Doug) of Niskayuna, brothers, Joe Hughes Jr. (Karen) of Canton, NC, Bob Hughes (Sue) of Granville, NY, Jeff Hughes (Kim) of Scotia, Greg Hughes (Lori) of Schenectady, sister in-law Suzanne Hughes of Rotterdam; 4 grandsons, Paul Jr., Isaiah, Gabriel and Niccolo; and serveral nieces and nephews. Also survived by 4 step-sons, Thomas D'Ambrosi (Karen), Jason D'Ambrosi, Daniel D'Ambrosi and Nicholas D'Ambrosi all of Schenectady; best friends, Paula and Dave Gunn and many other friends. Predeceased by his brothers Michael and Leo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Russell's life on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 3 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St.,(at McClellan St.), Schenectady with Rev. Brad Jones officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday afternoon from 1 PM till the time of the service at 3 PM for those who wish to call. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Port Henry, NY in the spring. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice of Schenectady. We would like to thank Hospice for the loving care given to Russell during his illness and the care and guidance given to his family.
