Clifton Park- John P. "Jack" O'Donnell of Clifton Park, formerly of Jersey City, NJ and Niskayuna,NY, died peacefully at home Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
Jack was born in Jersey City on November 19, 1929 son of the late Arthur and Bridget Lambe O'Donnell . His wife, Pat Smith O'Donnell passed away in 1998 and Jack was looking forward to joining her.
Jack's early education was in Jersey City. While in the Navy he received his BBA from the University of Georgia and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He joined the US Navy in 1948, and retired in 1970 as a Lt. Commander. During his 22 years of service Jack and Pat and their growing family lived in many different states. Jack joined GE and worked for KAPL in Niskayuna and Shippingport, PA. until he retired in 1989. Jack and Pat then retired to Rockledge, FL. Jack moved back to the Schenectady area after losing Pat to be closer to his family and friends. He was an active member of the Clifton Park ROMEO's, the KOTCATS and several bridge clubs. He was a communicant of St. Edward's the Confessor in Clifton Park.
Jack was the beloved father of Mike O'Donnell (Diana), Jim O'Donnell (Sheila), Katie O'Donnell, Kevin O'Donnell (Tammy) and Liz Jordans-O'Donnell (Antoine). Jack was also the proud and loving grandfather of Megan, Sarah, Christopher, Patrick, Brian, Laura and Jack.
Jack always will be the patriarch of our clan, remembered for his dry wit, generosity, and easy going manner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Friday morning at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Schenectady. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home 1503 Union St. (at McClellan St.), Schenectady for those who wish to call.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jacks memory to the American Cancer Society.
