Niskayuna, NY - Joseph W. Kennedy 89, died peacefully on February 25, 2010 at his home in the Glen Eddy, Niskayuna.
Joe was a proud graduate of Siena College's first class, the Class of 1941. He served in the US Army during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Albany Law School and practiced law in Schenectady for 60 years.
Born in Ilion, NY, on January 17, 1921 to Margaret and Leo Kennedy, Joe was raised in Schenectady by his Aunts Anne and Mary Carney following the death of his mother .
He is preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. His sister Margaret Clayton of SanLeandro, CA is his only surviving sibling.
Joe was for sixty six years the beloved husband of Emeline (Mickey) Kennedy and the father of three children: Patricia (Keith) Barney of Niskayuna, NY, Joseph Jr. (Julietta), of Penfield, NY, and Michael (Margaret) Kennedy of Valatie, NY. He was loving grandfather of Shannon (Stephen) Gray of Averill Park, NY, Sean (Lisa) Kennedy of Fairport, NY, Brian Kennedy of Brooklyn, NY, Kevin Barney of Stoughton, MA, Patrick Kennedy of Brooklyn, NY, Daniel Kennedy of Albany, NY, and Ryan Kennedy of Rosendale, NY. He was great grandfather of Margaret Gray, Morgan and Brandon Kennedy. Joe was also uncle to twenty two nieces and nephews.
Joe was a member of the Schenectady County Bar Association, the American Legion and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning 9:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road, Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends may also call at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street , Schenectady on Sunday, February 28, 2010, 3 PM to 6 PM.. Entombment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
