Niskayuna- Mary Elizabeth Leva 90, of Morrow Avenue, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Glendale Nursing Home. Born in Schenectady, daughter of Joseph & Edna Mae Craig Haggerty. She worked as Chief Room Clerk at Hotel Van Curler for 10 years till it's closing, then with NYS Division of Budget as Sr. Clerk, retired in 1975. Mary Elizabeth was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of Stadium Golf Club "Swinging Ladies". Beth found beauty in everything, especially the children of the world. She had a profound love for her husband, her family and her friends. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 68 years Frank J. Leva; 1 daughter, Kathleen Leva Monaco of Wilton; 2 sons, Frank J. Leva Jr of Ashland, MA and Joseph L. Leva of Schenectady; 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Alexander (Jasper) of Saratoga Springs, Eugene E. Monaco of Schenectady, Kerry Leva of Boston, Sarah and Maria Leva of Worcester, MA and Joseph Comer-Leva of Schenectady; 2 great grandchildren, Zoe Rose and Charles Reed Alexander of Saratoga Springs and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers, James, Robert, Joseph and Raymond Haggerty. Funeral services will begin Monday April 26th with prayers at 10 AM at the Jones Funeral Home, then to St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. Burial in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. A special Thank You to Dr. Christine Murphy and the nursing staff at Glendale for their care and comfort given to Mary Elizabeth and her family. Also to Carolyn Demarco of Glendale for her gracious words. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Northeast Parent and Child Society, 530 Franklin St., Schenectady, NY 12305, or to Franklin Community Center, 10 Franklin St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
