Scotia- Warren D. O'Neal 101, of Scotia, died Sunday, March 28, 2010.
Warren was born in New York City on October 4, 1908, son of the late Howard and Amelia Smith O'Neal.
He graduated from Woestina High School in Rotterdam Jct., class of 1926. Warren was first employed in the accounting Department of the Adirondack Power and Light Company. He then, went on to enter the Business Training Course at the General Electric Company. He held positions in Accounting, Publicity, Advertising and retired in 1971 as Manager of Administrative Practices and Production Department.
Warren was a member of the board of the Schenectady Counsil American Red Cross for 10 years serving on the Publicity, Blood Service, Finance, and Long ran Planning Committees. He was the Schenectady Representative to the Albany Red Cross Blood Services Council for six years. He served for many years with the Schenectady County United Way where he was chairman of the Advanced Gifts Division, Life member of the Scotia-Glenville Board of Education where he served several terms as Vice President and 1 year as President, a member of GE Elfun Society, a member of the Mohawk Golf Club, and former member of the Mohawk Club. Warren was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church and served on the Finance and Public Relations Committees and as Lay Leader and Chairman of the Administrative Board.
Warren was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Clara Herzog O'Neal, who died December 14, 1996..
Survived by his two daughters, Karen O'Neal Maynard (Kent) of Longs, SC,and Lynn O'Neal Trewhella (Edward) of Damascus, MD; 3 grandchildren, Kristen Maynard Raffan, Kent G. Maynard (Dawn), Elizabeth Trewhella McDonald (Randy); two great grandchildren, Ryan and Stephanie Cain.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 2 PM at Scotia United Methodist Church, 201 N. Ten Broeck St., Scotia, NY, with Rev. Dana Carrolland Rev. Leon Adkins Jr. officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private.
