East Glenville - Carlton Pashley Consaul, 86, of Orchard Drive, died at his home after a brief illness, on September 27, 2010.
He was the son of the late Harry A. and Anna Jane (Pashley) Consaul of Schenectady, and was predeceased by his sister Beth Wheeler of Ballston Lake.
Carlton was married for 55 cherished years to Ruth Broeland Consaul, who died August 18, 2003. He is survived by their son, Christopher Consaul of Glenville, and his niece, Deborah Ann Wheeler of Ballston Lake.
Attending Nott Terrace High School and Penn State, he worked as as a safety specialist at General Electric Co. Large Steam Turbine, the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, and the West Milton Site. He earned an accident-free safety award for GE and Admiral H. Rickover, and a management award for himself.
After retiring from GE, he was employed by Mr. Carl, designing and decorating store windows and interiors for the Carl Co. in Schenectady.
Having piloted biplanes in Naval Aviation during WW II, he maintained a great love for that type of airplane. He enjoyed canoeing and often spoke of paddling the length of Lake George and the Fulton Chain. He also enjoyed sailing, skiing, ice skating, woodworking, and faithfully fed the backyard birds all year.
He had been active in the Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout, was Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop No. 4. and offered merit badge training. He was a Mason, belonging to Schenectady Lodge No. 1174 E. & A. M.
Always enjoying artwork, from his earliest schooldays and throughout his life, he applied this talent wherever he worked and later as a Hospice volunteer. He was a giving person who could be counted on for good cheer, wisdom, a story or a joke. He was a fine husband and father, and will be deeply missed.
Carlton will be buried in the family plot at the East Galway Cemetery. According to his wishes, there will be no service or viewing hours, and the burial will be private.
