Michael J. Martin 74, formerly of Schenectady, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Abraham Hospice House in Utica.
He was born in Schenectady, son of the late John and Margaret McGovern Martin. Mike served in the US Air Force, he was the former owner of "Michael's Shady Lane" on Rt 50 in Glenville, Past President of Thomas Corners Fire Dept, and a member of the Rotterdam Elks. Mike drove tractor trailer for Adirondack Beverage in Scotia for 22 years, retiring in 2001.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Carole Martin, two daughters, Joanne Patterson (Bill) of West Virginia and Michelle Gagnon (Frank) of Canastota; 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Donald Martin and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Marilyn and brother Robert.
Services will be private at the convenience of his family. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Mike's memory to Thomas Corner Fire Department, 5 Airport Road, Scotia, NY 12302.
