Dear Mark and Mary Lou, I never met your dad (he really was in every sense of the word) but I learned about him from reading your email message and the obituary. my condolences to the whole Whitney family, especially to John, your dad was always good to us when we used to go hang out in his awesome basement bar back in the 80's. It was good to see him again at the graduation party but im not sure he remembered me.

John, you knew me as "The Cohoes Girl" of the family. We shared the fact we both lived in the City of Cohoes in our past and that was a connection I hung on to. I regret only meeting you 3 years ago. It seems to have been in your twilight years. All the memories and stories I've heard tell me what a remarkable man you were. I thank you for being so good to Mom and the family all these years.
