Schenectady- Janet Fleres Yannotti Osan 96, formerly of Nott Terrace, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home.
Born in Schenectady, daughter of the late John and Carmina Tacito Fleres, Janet was a life long resident of Schenectady, she worked as a hairdresser for 15 years in the Bellevue area before going to work at Ellis Hospital where she was an Administrative Secretary for Mr. Myron Dunne for 22 years, she retired in 1977.
She was Chaplin aide at Ellis Hospital Pastoral Care; former member of the Advisory Board for the Office of the Aging, former member of the Board of Managers' at the Annie Schaffer Senior Center for 6 years; Snow Queen at Schaffer Heights in the 80's; Co-chairman of the trips at Annie Schaffer Senior Center;she participated in the bowling league at the Schaffer Center, a member of the Leisure Club of the senior center in Scotia,; an active member of the St. John the Evangelist Church and the Rosary society and pastoral care: and an active tenant and participant at Schaffer Heights for 12 years.
Predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Lawrence Yannotti in 1959 and her husband of 20 years, George Osan in 1997.
Survived by her daughter, Carmeen Kolpack and her husband Wm.Fred; granddaughter, Maggie Kolpack Gifford and her husband Brian; great grandson, Ian Gifford;step-daughter Kathleen Salvador and her husband John Salvador,Jr.;step-grandson John Michael Salvador and wife Kay; significant friend, Emil Derose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Mondy at St. John the Evangelist Church at 1 PM. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), for those who wish to call. Burial will be at Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam.
The family wishes to thank Community Hospice of Amsterdam for the loving care and continuous support and comfort they gave my mother during her final months.
