Schenectady- Edward "Ed" Reilly 88, formerly of Jackson Ave., died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Baptist Health Nursing Center after a brief illness. Ed was born in Schenectady, where he was a life long resident, son of the late George and Emma Kaiser Reilly Sr. He served in the US Army during WW II where he received the Bronze Star for his heroism during the Philippine Island conflicts. He worked at General Electric as an Electrician for 40 years. In civilian life Ed was a body builder and know to his family and friends as the "Vitamin Guru". Ed was an avid harmonica player and participated in many amateur competitions in the Schenectady area, he also was a true lover of animals. Survived by his 2 brothers, Richard Lawler and his wife Carmen of Albany, and Clifford Lawler of Schenectady. his sister, Evelyn Paden and her husband James of Seabrook, TX. Also survived by 8 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, George Jr. and his sister in-law, Dorena Lawler. There will be no calling hours. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Ed's memory may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
