Obituary of Margaret E. Peppin

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On April 16, 2015, Margaret (Domenica) Elacqua Peppin, surrounded by her loving family, was lifted in the arms of the Angels to join her beloved brothers in Heaven. Margaret, 88 years old of Loudonville, was born in Albany, NY to the late Antonino and Rosa Puglisi Ilacqua. She was the only daughter and was proud to have seven brothers whom she loved dearly. Margaret attended Albany schools and it was a very proud day for her and her family when she received her GED in 1977. She worked for many years doing survey work while raising her family and then worked for the New York Telephone Company for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was a devout Catholic her entire life and after retirement she continued to attend mass daily at St. Pius Church where she made many friends. She was a Pastoral Care volunteer at Memorial Hospital and belonged to the Seniors of Colonie where she was an active member of the chorus until her illness. Her faith in God and her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She will be fondly remembered for giving advice on anything and everything, whether you asked for it or not. She had many sayings, but "let me tell you" and "there are two kinds of people; those who are Italian and those who wish they were" and "wash your hands Roger"(which drove the grandkids crazy) are the ones that she will be most remembered for using all the time. She loved to garden and will always be remembered for her beautiful roses. Margaret was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to visit and share stories and memories before her death at a special gathering for family and friends organized by her nieces and hosted by her nephew John and his wife Marlene. This was a very special day that she spoke of often and told everyone about; recalling how so many came to see her and how some had traveled so far to do so. Margaret is survived by her beloved son Anthony and his wife Kathy (Lansley); her grandchildren, Michele Peppin DiGuilio and her husband Gerald, Lisa Marie Peppin and Kevin Peppin and his wife Rebecca Snowden Peppin. She is also survived by her precious great-grandchildren; Zachary and Kaitlyn DiGuilio and Kyle and Luke Peppin, They were the light of her life and she loved them dearly. She was their special "Grandma Peppin" who couldn't give them enough hugs and kisses, ever! She also leaves to mourn her death, many nieces, especially Doris Burns and Margie Hennigan who were always visiting and having tea, checking on her regularly and she always looked forward to the nightly calls from Doris. She is also survived by nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews and many others who loved her and knew her as Aunt Margaret, whether they were related or not. Her special friends, of which there were many; but especially Mary Ellen Nardolillo who she loved like a daughter, Marion Coburn, Pat Fitzpatrick, Emma Diana and her oldest and dearest friend, Marge Canale of Florida. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her husband Philip and her seven brothers; James, Nino, Nick, twins Philip and Charlie, Angelo and John Elacqua. We were very lucky to have her with us for so long and she will be missed by all. We would especially like to thank Father Farano and Father Walsh for their many visits to Margaret during her illness, Community Hospice of Albany who was always there when needed, which allowed her to live in her home during her final journey. Special thanks to Diana and to her wonderful nurses, Becky and Doris; her favorite aide Becky; Holly, for her weekly massages which she so enjoyed and Dr. Tricia Pelnik-Fecko for the compassionate care she gave her in the past year but especially in her final months. We will always remember and you have our deepest gratitude. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be for Margaret in the Chapel at St. Pius X Church, Crumite Road, Loudonville on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 10:15am to Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow in the church. Margaret will be buried in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY following the funeral mass.
