Obituary of Mark E. Kraichy

Schenectady-Mark Kraichy 61, died suddenly at his home in Schenectady on April 6, 2011.
Mark was born Mark Edward Krejci on August 21, 1949 in Cleveland,
Ohio, where he attended Christ the King
School and St. Ignatius of Loyola High School. He graduated from Union
College with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1971, and
received his master's degree in civil engineering from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973.
Mark was a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of Sigma Xi. He
retired from the New York State Department of Transportation in 2008.
He took pride in his thirty-five years of state service.
Mark loved reading and computers. He was an avid bridge player. He was
also a devout Catholic who enjoyed participating in his
mens' prayer group.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Ida (Gorman), as well as
daughters Ellen Roach (Ralph) of Albany and Janet Danforth of Raleigh,
North Carolina, grandson Ian Mark Roach of Albany, stepchildren Peter
Gorman of Waterford and Nicole Gorman of Rensselaer, sisters Joyce
Mitten (Bill) and Joan Lograsso, both of Mentor, Ohio, and many nieces
and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, April 10 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Jones
Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian burial will be
held Monday, April 11 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Rd., Schenectady.
Burial will be at St. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam.
