Obituary of Joseph R. Macejka

Joseph R. Macejka Sr., 70, of Schenectady, passed away on July 12 after a long illness. Joe was born February 28, 1945 in Schenectady and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He went on to work as an auto-body repairman and painter for 30 years at Armory Garage in Albany and later at Bobar's Auto Body in Schenectady and most recently Advanced Auto in Schenectady. Joe loved Stock Car Racing and after many years of helping his father and brother-in-law Bill Fowler work on the Modified #27 Jr. driven by Robbie Kotary of Utica Joe owned and drove the late model #97 at Fonda, Albany-Saratoga, and Utica- Rome Speedways Joe was pre-deceased by his parents, Stephen and Anna Macejka of Schenectady; one brother, Stephen Macejka of Colonie; and once sister, Gloria Fowler of Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Michele Klementowski-Macejka; twin children, a son, Joseph Macejka Jr. (Gail), and a daughter, Suzanne Macejka (Chuck O'Neill); a granddaughter, Madyson Macejka and a grandson, Matthew Macejka all of Scotia. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Katlyn and Michael Villiaume of Clifton Park; an aunt, Florence Macejka of Scotia; sister-in-laws Pat Macejka of Charlotte, NC and Mary Ellen Jordan of Kissimmee, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on July 16 at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), from 5 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory can be made to "The Joan Nicole Prince Home", a comfort home for the terminally ill @ 22 Glenview Drive Scotia NY 12302 or the Animal Protective Foundation @ 53 Maple Ave. Scotia NY 12302.
