The Favata's et al, I am so totally taken back seeing this email re: Mike's passing. I met Mike back in the mid- 80's when he was bonding with elder son, Michael, on our camping trips. Mike was the kind of guy we were pleased to have him on the team. Big Mike, as we called him, was the strength and dependability we all grew to respect. Never pushy but able to offer common sense opinions and an option for each scenario. While not as gregarious as I, Mike was always ready to help. We relied on his muscle which he was modest about, nevertheless,he pulled his weight in many ways. Quite frankly, I was glad he was on our side! His comments on camp-outs were; " let the guys make mistakes and learn from them". " The boys have to learn to survive and deal with any challenge they meet". Mike was firm, observant and very humble, however, his opinion really counted down to the wire. His proudest moments were seeing his kids succeed when meeting the challenges of life. Mike, you are deeply missed. I know you are busy preparing a place for family & friends later on down the line. Thank you for considering me a friend. We will keep you fervently in our prayers. Most sincerely, Lorraine & Bart Chabot

He truly was a great friend and man. I am in tears just writing this message. I only knew him on the L.I.R.R. but we really bonded together. Every morning we would have coffee together and get ready for the day. My office was just below his so we always had each other. He got me thru many of rough days and I thank him so much for that. The only thing I wish was that you and him made the trip to Prescott AZ with the Caddy to visit us out here. He always wanted to but we know how busy we get after we retired. Please take my prays not for Mike because he is differently with God but for you to get thru this in time. And if you get a chance , play the song from Dean Martin - My Woman My Woman My Wife. We sang that song a lot thinking of our wife's.

Mr. Favata as he was known, was the nicest, most helpful guy in the neighbor. It has been over 20 years since I have seen him, but I remember like it was yesterday the type of character he had and expected of his children. He would be very proud. What a great man he was....he will be missed.

I will always remember Mike as a great friend and boss. He inspired us to do quality work and even enjoy doing a job that wasn't easy or fun. He helped us believe in the project and want it to succeed. It was always enjoyable to be with and work with Mike. We all miss him and remember him fondly. My prayers are with the family in this hard time.

We had the great honor of working with Mike on the Long Island Rail Road. Mike was truly a professional in every sense of the word, besides being a wonderful human being. In life we come across a few souls that leave their mark on your own life, Mike was one of these and will be missed. God Bless

Where to begin.... Thank you Mike for being the perfect neighbor. You and Jean were always there for us "kids" as you liked to call us. When we first moved in, Mike made a point of telling us he was putting up a fence - not because he wanted to block off the new neighbors, rather his 9 month old john liked to escape his yard. When we wanted to build a shed a tad close to the line, Mike said, "do what you want kids" When Sarah ate mushrooms as a toddler, Jean had the syrup of Ipecac on hand for the "mother" who did not. We will so miss Mike's music of the 50s floating over the summer breeze, or seeing him sit in his chair rereading Sherlock Homes. He inspired us to build a pergola as his was so beautiful. Mike inspired us to be good parents, and good neighbors. We cannot believe that we missed the funeral due to our own business and will forever be sad. But we want the kids to know that anything Jean needs, she merely needs to call over the fence and we will be the there.

Uncle Mike you were like a father to us growing up. Thank you for teaching me how to throw a football, shoot a basketball the right way, skipping rocks and fishing. You introduced me to golf and I love it just like you. I will always remember the time you taught me how to hit a driver at the Blattnick park.

I am sad to see of Mike's passing. I first met Mike at GE when we both worked together at Large Motor and Generator in Bldg. 60. You just sensed what a good man he was. Mike professed a philosophy at that time of " Don't bother my girl (Regina), don't fool with my car, and don't say anything bad about my mother." I knew first hand that he lived by these three things at the time. He was a quiet giant. Please accept my condolences and prayers.
