Obituary of Rita L. Vivian

Rita L.Vivian formerley of Coburg Village, Rexford, N.Y. age 95, died on June 13, 2012 at The Villages Hospice House, The Villages, Florida. Rita was born in New York City but lived most of her life in Schenectady. She graduated from Nott Terrace High school and received an associate degree from Albany Business College.Upon graduation, Rita moved back to N.Y.C. where she became the Executive Secretary to the Vice President of the General Cable Co. She returned to Schenectady and married William T. Vivian. For many years, she was the Secretary to the Headmaster of Brown School. Rita was a well known local artist and a member of the Schenectady Art Society, the Niskayuna Brush and Palette group and the Colonie Art Society. For over 20 years, she was an usher at SPAC and Proctors Theater Survivors include her two daughters: Nancy V. Hellekson of The Villages ,Florida and Dr. Gail M. Vivian of Kirkwood, Pa., two grandchildren: Gunnar Hellekson of Austin,TX., Wendy Lee Hellekson of Ledyard, CT., and great grandchild Nikolas Daynard. She also leaves her sister, Betsy Brockmann, of Rotterdam. Funeral arrangements are made by Jones Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Coburg Retirement Community at 10 AM, Saturday June 30th. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady City Mission.
