Obituary of Joan M. Stewart

Schenectady- Joan Santor Stewart 84, of Schenectady passed away Thursday April 10, 2014 surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Keeseville, NY she lived in Schenectady then moved to Camillus, NY in 1990 and returned to Schenectady in 2011. She graduated from Keeseville High School and Champlin Valley Nursing School. She retired in 1972 from Colonial Hall Nursing Home, Keeseville. A former communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Joan volunteered for the funeral luncheon guild and also with Community General Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her husband David, in 1972 and daughters, Patti and Jeannie. Surviving are her daughters, Mary (Lawrence) Couture, Ann (Hal) Duprey both of Schenectady, and Rita (Kevin) Grome of Camillus, NY; her brother Richard (Theresa) Santor of Plattsburg; grandchildren, Patty, Michelle, Natalie, Kevin, Ryan and Nathan; great grandchildren David, Devan and Delia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased also by her siblings, Francis, Vivian, Eugene and Mary. A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 9 AM at St. Katerie Parish, 1803 Union St., Niskayuna. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St. ( at McClellan St.), Schenectady. Joan will be laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery, Keeseville on Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association in Joan's memory.
