Obituary of Marcia F. Grimm

Please share a memory of Marcia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marcia Grimm, 97, of Schenectady, NY, died Monday, August 31, 2015 , at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center . She is survived by her companion Ken Hagadorn, children Kristin and Loren and their spouses Don and Heather, grandchildren Bart, Pat, Kelly, Robert, Damien, Kristy, and Jake, 6 great grandchildren, and several cousins. The family is very grateful for excellent care and support from the Kingsway Community in Schenectady. She was predeceased by her husband Fred and an infant granddaughter, Helen. A native of Hartford, CT and graduate of the University of Connecticut, Marcia met Fred at Silver Bay on Lake George. After he returned home from service in the Pacific, they moved to Schenectady, where they raised the children, volunteered on church and community boards, and built Shaffer-Grimm Building Supply Co. over the next 3 decades. Enjoying a long retirement, Fred and Marcia traveled frequently, retiring a second time to Kingsway, where Ken joined Marcia after Fred's passing. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be scheduled at a future time in Saratoga. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
