I want to send my condolences to the family of Nancy Thornton. My Auntie Chickie house sat her home in Squantum for many years. I have a lot of great memories from her home with my son and my family that would visit. They were friends for many years. My Aunt has dementia now but I'm sure she still has fond memories of her friendship with Nancy. She was a wonderful person and will be a great loss to her family and the world. Sincerely, Carol Hanson-Morgan

I first met Nancy when I attended a course she taught on Public Speaking, while I was working as a Training Coordinator at New York State Dept of Transportation(DOT). She was great! I later had contact with her as I was searching for someone to teach a writing course at DOT. Much to my delight, I found Nancy and we reconnected. She taught several courses for us. I found her a pleasure to work with, and we really become friends. She was always proud of her family, and used to talk with me about her "children", in whom she took much delight. She brought her wonderful sense of humor to her work. She came to my retirement party 8 years ago, and I felt honored that she would take the time to do that. My condolences to her entire family, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this stressful and sad time. I will miss her!

I went to HS at Niskayuna from '69-1973. I'd spent many hours in Mrs. Thorntons detention classes in my early years. Mrs. Thornton had a 'tough' exterior, and had to when she had that assignment. However, I found a genuine 'lovely and concerned' woman under that hard shell. After I graduated and a few years later, when I was a local police officer, I would stop by just to see HER! What a lovely woman with a great sense of humor and a heart of gold! Even though I haven't seen her in many years, I will truly miss her! God bless!
