Sheri Miller posted a condolence

I moved to New York the summer of 1987. At just 7 years old, I was a broken and sad little girl who'd experienced some of the worst things life could throw at a child. My family began to attend First Presbyterian Church in 1988 and that's when I met Mr. and Mrs. Brown. I don't recall if the church had a grandparent program or if the Browns could just tell that I needed some extra loving, but love me they did. I have many fond memories of special times spent with Mr. and Mrs. Brown. Particularly the time when it was Mrs. Brown's birthday and I snuck to their house in the middle of the night and posted a huge sign in their yard that read "Sheri Miller loves Mrs. Brown! Happy birthday!" Mr. Brown laughed and laughed and laughed when he saw the sign and each time he'd talk about it after, he'd laugh some more. If I close my eyes, I can still see the twinkle in his eye.

Carl Brown was a super great godly man! Hearing about your dad's passing away was painful but on the other hand, we know that total joy has enveloped him! Micah 6:8 is what comes to our mind about the type of man Carlyle Brown was, it states; "He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Carlyle walked that out in his life. We love you all and we are praying for all of you during this time.

Your Family has such special memories to cherish forever! God is so good to enrich our lives by the examples our parents have been and the wonderful Christian heritage they have given us. May God continue to Bless your family and give you all comfort and peace as you know your father rests in the arms of his Heavenly Father and his legacy lives on in your hearts forever.

What a great man, father, grandfather, and friend! His legacy is of honor and truth has been passed down through his very fine family! I am glad I got to know him while he was here in Nebraska! He will be missed very much. We are thankful he is in God's hands now. Love, Denise, Chris, Paige, and Faith Perrone.

Carlyle Brown was a quiet but effective mentor whose advice was always spot on and his smile of approval all you needed to move forward. He worked tirelessly at Camp Pattersonville and it was always a joy to be with him. He showed all of us what being a Christian was all about. I will always remember him.

For 20 years, I lived next door to Carl and Flo. They were the perfect neighbors, showing concern for my spiritual and physical welfare and sharing neighborhood lore. They made it a blessing to live on Alton Street.
