Florida-George W. Cook 89,former resident of Baldwinsville and Schenectady, NY, passed away peacefully at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, FL. on Saturday, December 5, 2009. George was born to Leland and Geneveive Cook in Bernard's Bay, New York on July 5, 1920. In 1939 George joined the General Electric Company's Financial Management Program in Schenectady, NY. He held several financial management assignments in the Corporate Accounting Operation, and was Manager of the Pension Administration at the time of his retirement in December of 1982. George served in the U.S. Army in the state of Texas in 1942 and 1943. He was a member of the Mont Pleasant Reformed Church for many years and served on the Consistory both as Deacon and Elder. He was Treasurer of the Synod of Albany Reformed Church for 17 years and treasurer of the Niskayuna Reformed Church where he served for 10 years. George was predeceased in death by his wife of 58 years, Catherine. George moved to Florida in 2005 and resided at Bishop's Glen in Holly Hill, FL. where he took pleasure in meeting so many new and interesting people. He was a member of the Tomoka United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach. Survivors include his sons, William Cook (Joyce) of York Beach, ME, George V.Cook (Patricia) of Palm Coast, FL., and Jeffrey Cook (Maureen) of Westport, CT; grandchildren Kenneth (Becky) Cook and Lynette Cook, Bryan (Julia) and Matthew Cook; and three great grandchildren, Jason, Emily and Rachel. He will be dearly missed by all those whose path he crossed. A memorial service will be held at Bishops Glen in Holly Hill at a later date.
