Obituary of Rose M. Nottke

Schenectady -- Rose M. Nottke died peacefully at Albany Memorial Hospital on October 4, 2008 after a prolonged illness. Rose was born in Albany on June 10, 1911 and was the daughter of Matthias H. and Theresa Youmans Schweigert. In addition to being an efficient homemaker, she worked in retail for W.T. Grant and John G. Meyers stores, as a clerk for Travelers Insurance Co., and at the switchboard of the Schenectady County Public Library. She retired in 1990. Her husband of 46 years, Frank A. Nottke, died in 1985. Her children, Rosemary E. Nottke and Robert M. Nottke survive her, as do her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, G. Ernest and Beatrice Nottke Thomas. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins down to three generations removed. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Wednesday October 8, at 11am at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street (at McClellan St.). A calling hour will be from 10am to the time of the service for those who wish to call. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery. Those who wish to make a donation in her memory may contribute to the Friends of the Schenectady County Public Library, 99 Clinton St. Schenectady, NY 12305 or to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
