Obituary of Nancy D. Hyatt

Niskayuna- Nancy D. Hyatt 88, former resident of Baker Ave., passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Ellis Hospital with her daughter by her side. Nancy was born in Newburyport, MA, daughter of the late William and Bessie Davis Safford. She was employed by Blake Realty and Mohawk Pathways Girl Scout Council. Nancy was a Girl Scout Leader, Day Camp Director and led nature walks for Mohawk Pathways Girl Scout Council. Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Donald L. Hyatt in 1983. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church for 48 years, a member of The Girl Scouts of the USA for 50 years, a member of the Land Use Open Space Committee for 10 years. Nancy volunteered at Ellis Hospital for 25 years and the Red Cross for 25 years. Survived by her daughter Betsy Hyatt of Glenville; her brother, William Safford (Anita) of Jonesboro, GA; her nephew, Keith Safford and her cousin, Helen Safford of Newburyport, MA. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 7 PM at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert DeFelice officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's memory to Faith United Methodist Church or Ellis Hospital Foundation.
