Mount Holly, NJ--Marjorie W. O'Neill, 90, previously of Scotia, left her earthly home in Mount Holly, NJ on December 20, 2014. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 67 years, Alfred H. O'Neill and son Robert C. O'Neill. Survivors include her daughter, Linda C. Speirs and husband Jeff of Mount Holly, NJ, her son, Colin W. O'Neill and wife Lindy of Biloxi, MI. She is also survived by 3 beloved grandchildren: Jeremy Speirs, Rachel Walton and husband, Phil, Erin O'Neill, and great grandson, Asher Walton. Marjorie graduated as a registered nurse from Methodist School of nursing in Brooklyn, NY in 1945. She also attended Syracuse University and Russell Sage College. Her life revolved around serving others. Although she worked in a number of hospitals and as a private duty nurse, what really captured Marjorie's heart was working for the Visiting Nurse Association. She first worked as the VNA's one and only nurse in Kutztown, PA and then for the VNA of Schenectady for many years. A highlight of her life was accompanying a patient to the Highland Christian Mission in Papua, New Guinea where she stayed for a brief period of time to serve at an "Aid-Post" deep in the jungle. She loved to paint, sing, bicycle and go camping. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady. Marjorie was a joy to everyone she met. Her life was characterized by putting others before herself. She was cherished by her family. A Service will be held on Saturday, December 27th at 10 AM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street (at McClellan St.). Interment to follow in Park Cemetery, Scotia. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Jones Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
