Barb, I saw you arriving at the hospital one day, while Chuck and I were leaving after visiting with my former mother-in-law who died on Tuesday, April 23. I wanted to send you a private note of condolence, but I do not have your address. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you grieve the loss of someone who was evidently an outstanding woman. God's blessings.

Auntie Ann had a delightful positive impact on everyone she met and knew. Her sharp wit and intellect was the perfect match with Phil, and they spent a life-long love affair together. Their strong character, integrity, and beliefs flowed naturally to and through their children, grandchildren, family, and friends. I remember visiting Ann and Phil a few years back, and during the visit one of their young adult granddaughters came by their home for a short visit. Ann suspended all activities to reserve private time for counsel with her granddaughter. I was impressed that this grandmother's experience and wisdom in life's ups and downs was so actively pursued and precious to her 21st century granddaughter. Ann and Phil proudly guarded some of our country's most sensitive secrets, not just because it was an assigned task, but because it was a solemn duty and honor. That is just one of the many great features of America's Greatest Generation. We have lost just about every remaining family member from that generation, but they are vital and precious in our memories.
