Obituary of Donald Paul Kleiber

Donald P. Kleiber, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday morning at Ellis Hospital.
Don was born in Princeton, NJ and was the son of the late Paul and Helen Kleiber. He was a graduate of Rutgers University where he was a member of Delta Phi and was given the brotherhood name of "Biff." Following college, Don honorably served his country in the US Army. Don worked as a pharmaceutical representative covering the northeast region. He retired from Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories.
Don was a member of the Schenectady Pipe Band for over 30 years and enjoyed participation in parades, competitions and the Scottish Games. He also spent some of his spare time volunteering for Proctors Theatre, Ellis Hospital and the Schenectady Air Museum. Don and Betty enjoyed spending winters in Myrtle Beach, SC. Don was a devoted Yankee and Giants fan.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 wonderful years, Betty Kleiber; loving children, Karen Aveyard and her husband Mike, Eric Kleiber and his wife Adrienne; devoted grandchildren, Brandon Aveyard, Samantha Gilman and her husband Raymond, Whitney Aveyard, Rebecca Kleiber and Elizabeth Kleiber; siblings, Doris Mapes and her husband Charles and Vernon Kleiber and his wife Nancy; Donald is also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday evening at 7 PM at the First Reformed Church, 8 North Church St., Schenectady.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St. (at McClellan St.), Monday from 4 to 6 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's memory to the Schenectady Pipe Band, 40 Terrace Avenue, Albany, NY 12203.
