Obituary of Lawrence R. Bollinger

Niskayuna-Lawrence R. Bollinger 86, of Niskayuna, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Ellis Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Ambridge, PA, son of Frank and Inez Kniefel Bollinger, Lawrence graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and from Union College with MS degrees in Engineering and Industrial Administration. Lawrence worked at KAPL in Niskayuna, retiring in 1988 as Engineering Manager. He was a member of the Niskayuna Reformed Church, GE Elfun Society and GE Quarter Century Club. Predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Jean Reid Bollinger in December of 2008. Survived by his sons, David Bollinger (Judith) of Pittsfield, MA, Richard Bollinger (Iris) of McKeesport, PA and James Bollinger of Loudonville, NY; 5 grandchildren, David, Lisa, Rachel, Jessica and Evan; 6 great grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Greene (Allen) of Fern Creek, KY and his sister in-law, Barbara Watson (Donald) of Seminole, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 11 AM at the Niskayuna Reformed Church. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 PM to 5 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St.( at McClellan St.), Schenectady for those who wish to call. Burial will be in Historic Vale Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in Lawrence's memory to Alzheimer research or to the Niskayuna Reformed Church, Troy Schenectady Road, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
