Obituary of Theodore Arthur Schlansker

Theodore A. Schlansker, a resident of Schenectady passed into eternal life on March 24, 2017. Born in Schenectady in 1928, Theodore was the son of the late Alfred and Fanny (Krage) Schlansker. Theodore was the loving husband of the late Dawn (Austin) Schlansker. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1946, Theodore proudly served his country in the U.S Navy during WW II. Theodore and his wife were members of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Schenectady. Retiring in 1990 following a 43 year career with New York Telephone, Theodore was also active in several organizations including the Rotterdam Elks, Telephone Pioneers, the Over the Hill Gang and bowled with the senior league. Along with his wife, he volunteered at the Schenectady Inner City Mission (SICM). Theodore is survived by his children, Karen A. (William) Schaefer, Susan E. (Bob) Nuttall and Richard T. (Laurie) Schlansker, grandchildren include Meghan (Michael) DelPrete, Michael Schaefer, Bob Nuttall, Scott Nuttall, Kevin Schlansker, Brian Schlansker and Kelly Schlansker. Great grandchildren William and Madeline DelPrete. He is also survived by his sister Ellen Martin, a niece and nephew. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his brothers Alfred, Richard and Norman. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, March 28th at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church 806 Union Street. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to SICM 1068 Park Ave. Schenectady, NY 12038 or to the Animal Protective Foundation 53 Maple Ave, Schenectady, NY 12302 in Theodore's memory would be appreciated.
