Obituary of Herbert J. Friedman

Niskayuna- Herbert J. Friedman 80, died August 30, 2009 after a long illness. Born in Schenectady, son of the late Arthur and Augusta Lee Friedman, Herb was a life long resident on Schenectady. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School, class of 1948. Herb was General Manager and Owner of Selected Meat Packers for many years and retired in 2007 from Latham Meat Market as a Salesman. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Shirley Reiner Friedman; predeceased by his two children, David Friedman and Lauren Friedman Shabat and his late grandson Robb Friedman. Survived by his two granddaughters, Sandra Martin and Joelle Shabat; two brothers, Edwin Friedman and Norman Friedman; his daughter in-law, Virginia Friedman and three great grandchildren, Salvator, Marisa and Faith. Funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 AM at Congregation Beth Israel, 2195 Eastern Parkway, Niskayuna, NY. with Rabbi Moshe Mirsky officiating. Burial will be in Beth Israel Cemetery. A period of morning will be held at the Friedman residence, 657 St. David's Lane, Niskayuna, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening at 7 PM and Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions in Herb's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or to Congregation Beth Israel, 2195 Eastern Parkway, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
