Obituary of Kathleen G. Frokedal

Kathleen Frokedal of Vly Pointe, Niskayuna, formerly of St. Marks Lane, Niskayuna passed away on Tuesday, October 6th after a courageous five-year struggle with cancer. Kathy was born and grew up in Pittsfield, MA, received her BA from St. Rose College and MA from SUNY Albany. She was married to the late George F. Frokedal. She taught English for 4 years at Oneida Middle School and 10 years at Goff Middle School in East Greenbush. Kathy was a member of the Junior League of Schenectady, former member of Mohawk Golf Club and Sporttime Tennis Club. Kathy and George had 4 children, Michelle (Marc) Morris, Flower Mound, TX; Nicole (Glen) Kaatz, Malta, NY; Katherine (Josh) Collins, Indianapolis, IN; and Thomas Frokedal, Charlotte, NC. They had 4 grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Morris and Gregory and Molly Kaatz. Kathy is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Shirley and John Cunningham; her sisters in law and brother in law Chris and John Kronau and Margaret Petreshock, her niece Kiki Hart, her closest friend, Debby Mullaney, several other nieces and nephews and many, many wonderful friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 10th at St. Kateri (formerly St. Helen's) on Union Street at 10AM. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 9th from 5 PM to 8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street, (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to City Mission of Schenectady, PO Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301 or a memorial contribution payable to Hope House, Inc. - Hope House Funding Corp, 573 Livingston Ave, Albany, NY 12206, and Attention: Dawn Pasquarell.
