Obituary of William R. DeWitt

William Roy DeWitt 82, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 after a long illness.
He was born in Albany, NY, son of the late William and Betty Furness DeWitt. Bill served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1947 to 1951.
He was a retired pipe fitter from Local's #105 and # 7. Bill was a member of St. Gabriel's Church and Knights of St. John Commandry 100, where he was the Commander of Uniform Rank.
He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed golfing and bowling and especially loved his NY Yankees and Giants
Bill was a devoted husband of 58 years to Maureen Genter DeWitt. Also survived by his 5 children, Michele DeMatteo, Joanne DeWitt, William DeWitt, Patrick DeWitt, Mary Beth Mantica, Son-in-law Ronald DeMatteo, daughter-in-law Lisa DeWitt, son-in-law John Mantica; 10 grandchildren, Nic and Ryan DeMatteo, Katie Fulton, Andrea Baker, Keri DeWitt, Sean and P.J. DeWitt, Sarah, Johnny and Carlie Mantica. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:30 AM at St. Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg St.,
Rotterdam. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady for those who wish to call.
Burial will follow the Mass with Military Honors in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
Knights of St. John Commandry 100 will be meeting Sunday at 7 PM at the funeral home.
